Acceptance of Terms
By accessing the web-based developer utility tools at stackengine.dev (the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. StackEngine is currently operated as an independent, commercially driven software project. If you represent an entity, you warrant you have the authority to bind such entity.
Web Utilities vs Commercial CLI Offerings
StackEngine provides two distinct service tiers:
Free, public client-side diagnostic tools provided "as-is" for individual developer auditing in local browser execution environments.
Future paid binary downloads, CI/CD pipeline automation plugins, and private VPC deployment tiers will be governed by dedicated Priority Enterprise Support & Response agreements separate from these Terms.
Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, bypass, or extract the client-side AirLock engine for unauthorized commercial redistribution.
- Automate denial-of-service or malicious scraping against public web endpoints.
- Utilize the Services for unlawful purposes under applicable export control laws.
User Code Ownership & Diagnostic Assistance
USER CODE OWNERSHIP & DIAGNOSTIC ASSISTANCE
StackEngine claims zero ownership or copyright over the configurations you process. You acknowledge that AI-generated remediation diffs are provided as diagnostic assistance and MUST be independently verified by your engineering team prior to production deployment.
Disclaimers & No Warranty
The free web utilities are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. While our AirLock engine is built on rigorous AST and regex heuristics, StackEngine does not guarantee 100% capture of theoretical zero-day credential formats.
Third-Party API & BYOK Liability
IN BYOK (BRING YOUR OWN KEY) MODE, YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL TOKEN COSTS, BILLING INCIDENTS, AND DATA TRANSMISSIONS TO YOUR DESIGNATED LLM PROVIDER. STACKENGINE HAS NO CONTROL OVER, NOR LIABILITY FOR, CHARGES INCURRED ON YOUR THIRD-PARTY ACCOUNTS.
Absolute Limitation of Liability (The Liability Cap)
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL STACKENGINE, ITS SOLE PROPRIETOR, INDEPENDENT MAINTAINERS, FOUNDERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA EXFILTRATION FROM USER NEGLIGENCE, OR PRODUCTION OUTAGES).
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE TOTAL, AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF STACKENGINE AND ITS DEVELOPERS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT OR THE USE OF THE SERVICES EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO STACKENGINE IN THE PAST TWELVE (12) MONTHS, OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS ($50.00). THIS MONETARY CAP IS A FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENT OF THE BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN YOU AND STACKENGINE.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StackEngine and its maintainers from any claims, damages, or legal fees arising out of your violation of these Terms, your execution of unverified AI-generated code in your infrastructure, or your violation of third-party compliance frameworks.
Dispute Resolution & Binding Arbitration
StackEngine is currently operated as an independent project. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the breach thereof shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by a mutually agreed-upon provider of alternative dispute resolution services in accordance with its Commercial Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall be conducted via remote/video conference or based purely on written submissions to eliminate travel burdens for both parties. You expressly waive your right to a trial by jury or to participate in a court lawsuit against the maintainers of StackEngine.
Class Action Waiver
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
